Why check a domain's age?

Domain age is a quick due-diligence check before buying a used domain, vetting a backlink or guest-post target, or researching a competitor's site history. It's a verified fact from the registry's own RDAP record — not an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check how old a domain is?
Enter the domain in the checker above. It queries the domain's official RDAP record (the modern replacement for WHOIS) and returns the exact registration date, current age, registrar, and expiration date in seconds — free, no signup.
Why does domain age matter for SEO?
Domain age alone is not a confirmed Google ranking factor, but it correlates with trust signals buyers and SEOs care about: an older domain has had more time to accumulate backlinks, indexed content, and a clean history. Domain investors and backlink prospectors use age as one data point among many, not a sole criterion.
What's the difference between domain age and domain authority?
Domain age is a factual, verifiable date from the domain's registration record. Domain Authority (a Moz metric) and similar scores (DR, Trust Flow) are modeled estimates of a site's link-based ranking strength. Age is one input SEO tools may use when calculating those scores, but it is not the same number.
Is WHOIS the same as RDAP?
RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the structured, machine-readable successor to WHOIS, now required by ICANN for gTLD registries. It returns the same core facts — registration date, registrar, expiration — in a consistent JSON format instead of free-text WHOIS output, which is why this tool uses RDAP directly.
Can I check the age of any domain extension?
This tool supports RDAP lookups for .com, .net, .org, .info, .ai, .biz, .xyz, .online, .site, .store, .tech, .app, and .dev domains, using each registry's official RDAP server directly. Other extensions aren't supported yet because their registries don't publish a public RDAP endpoint.
